Week 5 Reflection

From week 5, we learned about copyright laws. Copyright law mean the right to copy. This is to protect the author, or the owner of the works provided. There are main parts to this law. This law stays intact to a work for the authors or creators' whole life plus 70 more years. An example is that certain movies cannot be played in the classrooms because they are copyrighted. They must have an educational purpose that pertains to the lesson you were teaching in class. We have to be careful as educators, to not print a whole book for our students that cannot afford one. We have to also be careful when we use stories in our classrooms or posting videos that contain others works, and photos, so we do not get in trouble for the copyright law. We will have to proper source and/ or ask for permission to share the work.

Week 4 Reflection

During week 4, we had to create our own QR code. This was a very fun and easy process. I created my QR code for a technology game website that children can use to learn how to do different processes in technology. I had to enter the URL of the website I was using in order to create the code. They had different ways you can edit it to make it better. You could add a background color or a different shape for the code. You did have to pay for that part, so I did not do that. I can save this for when I become an educator.  Using QR codes in the classroom is an easy way for students to have access to certain websites or activities you would like them to have. They can take the code home and scan or they can scan it right in the classroom. With that, they will always have access to them and they will not forget what the websites are called.

Week 3 Reflection

This week we learned about block coding. When I first heard this topic, I was a little scared. I have never heard about this before. Then I watched the video on how to complete to dance party and I was still confused. Once I started to create my own dance party, I felt a sign of relief. It was not hard and it allowed me to tap into my creativity side. I am not a creative person but this was a fun activity to complete.  Technology keeps advancing and growing everyday. This is a great first step in teaching students about coding. This will be a fun activity to have children be able to creative something fun but also learning more about technology. I will plan on keeping this activity handy for when I become an educator.
Week 2 Reflection First, I created a YouTube channel and posted a screen cast on a previous PowerPoint I have made. This was an easy and great experience. I have never thought of making a YouTube channel to be able to share with student more information on our lessons. In time of need, when students have to do school online this is a perfect way to communicate lessons with them.  Next, I learned about netiquette for digital citizens. We had to create a poster for rules that we would have in our classrooms for students to be good digital citizens. Even while using technology, there is still many ways for students to misbehave online. This is a great way to go over and have as a reminder for students what they should follow in order to be a good digital citizen.
